Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.
Platform operators will work in a strategic customer environment to operate the day-to-day tasks of running the Pivotal Cloud Foundry Platform as a managed service on Amazon C2S. This is referred to as Pivotal Web Services (PWS). They work to ensure the PWS platform is operational on a daily basis. This includes upgrading the platform, software runtime versions and deploying buildpacks in accordance to the security policy in place at the customer. Platform Operators are strong software developers who use their deep technical skills and cutting edge technologies to enable PWS to run meaningful production mission application workloads across the intelligence community.
Recommended Technical Skill Sets:
Expertise in Linux/Unix family
Demonstrated experience with configuration management script.
Demonstrated experience with application implementation meeting design and security requirements.
Experience with Object Oriented Design Methodology, design, implementation, and administration, (J2EE, JSON, HTML, and XML).
Experience with distributed systems and web architectures
Experience using configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.
A clear understanding of container technologies such as Kubernetes and the tools & challenges around them
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
Experience with Platform as a Service (PaaS) such as Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk or similar
Experience in automating tasks using a script or interpreted language such as bash, PowerShell, Perl, Python, or Java, and automation frameworks like Terraform, Vagrant, and Packer
Experience deploying web application frameworks, such as Node.js, Django, Zope, or Rails
Experience using any of AWS Cloud Formations, OpenStack Heat, Azure Resource Templates, or Google Deployment to automate deployment of cloud resources
Exposure to cloud APIs such as Fog, Boto, iCloud or similar
Ability to use a source control management system such as Git, Mercurial, or Subversion
Defining and deploying monitoring, metrics, and logging strategies across applications, systems and services where applicable
Implementing systems that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing on premise, and on the AWS platform
Designing, managing, and maintaining tools to automate operational processes, backups, ensuring service offerings provide highly available services
Managing integration and production service environment for a rapidly growing service model
3+ years of experience in Linux administration
Knowledge of firewalls and networking experience is a plus
Experience providing managed services in an IaaS, PaaS, SaaS Public Cloud environment
15+ years of related systems engineering experience.
