Position Title: Principal IT Applications Developer

Position Description/Job Responsibilities

This position acts in the highest level technical role as an individual contributor and team lead for complex applications and application initiatives. Possess a thorough understanding of availability technologies, tools and existing design patterns. Plans performs, and acts as the escalation point for complex platform designs, coding, and testing. Leads complex multiple modeling, simulations, and analysis efforts. Acts as the expert technical resource to staff in the program development, testing and implementation process.

This position will specifically provide Informatica ETL Design and Development support for data applications hosted on internal and external platforms.

Key duties and responsibilities listed but not limited to:

  • Development, maintenance, and/or support of one or more applications in major system, or functional area
  • Provide leadership for analysis leading to requirements/specifications, estimates, and system designs for applications
  • Perform and oversee programming, quality assurance reviews, documentation, system deployment, training, and project setup/support
  • Perform complex ETL analyses and designs with customers on selection, acquisition, installation and configuration of applications licensed from third parties
  • Responsible for vendor relationships within area of responsibility
  • Build specifications for extract, transform, and load processes, following standards for Informatica to facilitate the data mart/warehouse fact and dimension models
  • Work with business to design specific subset of warehouse data for producing analytical data stores. Understanding elements of the data warehouse and facilitating the build of a warehouse to produce data marts that meet the business requirements
  • Responsible for time scheduling, properly building jobs with appropriate failure notifications, and properly maintaining adequately documented run books of the jobs
  • Ensure warehouse and database functions in accordance with Data Governance policies as set forth by KBR policies and standards
  • Oversee new data development which includes the creation of new structure to meet business requirements or streamline existing processes to reduce overhead on the existing warehouse
  • Ensure consistency with existing databases and warehouses, enforcement of standards and consistent processes
  • Work with the release management team to ensure that proper change management process is performed, as well as planning deployment timelines to avoid emergency migrations
  • Supervision of ETL staff to include work assignments, quality and progress monitoring
  • Provide after-hours support as needed



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field or extensive applicable experience
  • Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architect disciplines
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in utilizing and extending ETL solutions with Informatica in complex, high volume data environment
  • Understanding of architecture and design across enterprise systems
  • Proficiency in SQL and Toad/SQL Navigator
  • Extensive experience working with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • SQL query and performance tuning
  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance and software improvement
  • Experience with scheduling and data integration tools
  • Strong exposure in Data Management, Governance and Controls functions
  • Strong understanding of data analysis, data and process modeling and relational database concepts
  • Excellent organizational, oral, written, and presentational communication skills in order to work with all levels of staff and management
  • Extensive data warehousing/business intelligence development and architecture experience
  • Extensive experience designing relational (conceptual, logical, physical) and dimensional data models for data warehouse/business intelligence
  • Extensive experience with system integrations
  • Experience with Scheduling tools
  • Experience with project planning and management, including making operational decisions, monitoring progress, taking corrective action, and communicating results
  • Candidate must have a strong customer service orientation
