ManTech is seeking a Sr. Statistician to support ManTech's Health and Federal Civilian Business Unit at our Baltimore, MD location. The selected candidate is expected to be able to:
-Conduct technical statistical research
-Analyze, compile and interpret statistical records and reports of programs, projects, and activities, under supervision. This position is accountable for the adequacy of the statistical methods selected and the accuracy of the results obtained, and requires, in addition to a working knowledge of statistical principles, methods, and techniques, the ability to apply statistical principals in a specialized area
-Determines methods of statistical analysis and applies statistical techniques to determine measures of central tendency, correlation, sample size, significance of differences, etc.
-Interpret trends, fluctuations, and other changes. This position involves preparation of reports, graphs, charts and occasionally provides oral presentations of the results of statistical studies.
-Researches pertinent literature in a designed project area and analyzes applicability of concepts.
-May consult with program and administrative staff in the development and completion of projects
-May perform specialized statistical analysis involving correlation and regression equations
A minimum of ten (10) years of experience using statistical methodologies to identify vulnerabilities in Medicare, Medicaid and Managed Care programs. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of health care information, for example health claims data, ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes, physician specialty codes, survey and certification data, and provider/supplier identifiers. Statistical analysis in fraud, waste, and abuse areas is a plus
Must have experience and proficiency in programming, web programming and data manipulation; basic knowledge of and experience with Medicare claims and pharmacy drug data; basic knowledge of Medicare Parts A,B, C and D benefits; and demonstrated experience in the design, management, and oversight of databases. Experience and proficiency in SAS. SQL, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Excel are required. The individual must demonstrate experience in statistical detection of potential fraud, waste, abuse and improper payments in healthcare, using tools such as predictive modeling, development of mathematical models, neural networks, and data mining and other analytical methods.
Required Education: A minimum of a Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, or related discipline
