Job Description:

Raytheon’s Mechanical Engineering Directorate (MED) provides engineering design, integration and production to a wide range of hardware in Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). The Mechanical Engineering Directorate uses state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon Six Sigma principles. MED’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test and documentation.

The Platform Integration Department leads mechanical design, development and integration of platform systems. This includes shelter systems, hardware integration, interconnects, as well as facility development and site integration. The Site Development and Integration Section, within the Platform Integration Department, is seeking motivated and driven mechanical engineers with technical expertise and experience in facility requirements and design development, facility construction, hardware installation, and project management. As a member of the engineering team, the individual will support multi-disciplined engineering teams and provide facility engineering solutions and services across all program phases. Areas of focus can encompass development of requirements for next generation systems, facility design development for existing or new products, transition to construction support, hardware installation support, design and construction subcontractor oversight, customer coordination and program management. Develop, revise, and maintain AutoCAD drawings, models, and designs from verbal directions, hand drawn sketches, and existing hard copy drawings

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform facility requirements and design development for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements
  • Perform site surveys to determine requirements for facility modifications or new build
  • Support the design and construction subcontractors both domestically and internationally
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges
  • Work closely with Raytheon, Customer, and subcontractor stakeholders
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals
  • Support and participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions
  • Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and facility design development in a fast paced, team environment

This position can be an G07 or an G08 based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and responsibilities required for this position.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Required Skills:
  • Four (4)+ years of experience in a Facility Design Engineering role with minimum one (1) year facility design development, preferably for use in Military environments utilizing military codes and standards

  • Previous experience including concept definition through detailed design and transition construction

  • Broad background in MEP design and development, facility equipment selection and submittal review, supporting design/construction subcontractors, field support

  • Experience with CAD design tools

Desired Skills:
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international) for short term and/or long term assignments

  • Excellent communication, technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Working knowledge of Military and Commercial codes and standards for facility design

  • Advanced problem solving skills

  • Experience using AutoCAD design tools

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Project)

  • Desire and ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Able to work well with people and achieve results with a minimum of conflicts and within schedule

  • Previous experience includes adaptability and willingness to work varying assignments

  • Demonstrated team player with excellent collaboration skills

  • Proven ability to lead technical solutions to complex user requirements

  • Experience in supporting or leading proposals for new business

  • Advanced degree in mechanical engineering, or facility design/construction related degree

Required Education (including Major):
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
