Position Title: Lead Mechanical Estimator

Position Description/Job Responsibilities

Mid-level Estimating position responsible for applying advanced techniques and analysis for Conceptual and Definitive estimates for the Oil and Gas and related industries. Emphasis will be on preparing and reviewing conceptual, detailed and lump sum mechanical and process equipment estimates. This position utilizes experience, knowledge and judgement in order to complete mechanical estimates according to policies, procedures and business strategies. Position reports to the Estimating Manager.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in estimating supporting Engineering, Procurement and Construction estimates for Oil and Gas and related industries
  • Must have a strong Mechanical and Process equipment background and be able to prepare and review construction estimates for setting and installing process equipment, costing equipment insulation, and preparing crane and lifting estimates
  • A strong understanding of metallurgy and materials to be able to price equipment is required
  • Estimating skills must also include knowledge of factored estimating techniques and experience preparing detailed estimates with an emphasis on Lump Sum bidding
  • Must be accurate and deadline driven and be able to read drawings, manage databases and prepare estimates for all types of Industrial plants including LNG plants, Ammonia plants, Polyethylene plants and other industrial facilities
  • Interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite with advanced skills in Excel required
  • Knowledge of Aspen Capital Cost Estimator for pricing equipment preferred
  • Must be able to work anywhere in the Greater Houston area and travel worldwide to prepare estimates
