The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator analyzes the work being performed, the work environments and design programs to control, to eliminate and prevent disease or injury.
Advise management on how to recognize hazards of the different work environments using OSHA and NIOSH protocols.
Enhance our compliance and performance in response to changes in regulatory standards, equipment, products, facilities or processes and those planned for future use.
Focal point for the DynCorp ASD Hazard communications.
Maintain open lines of communications with the workforce and management about the status of Health and Safety programs.
Maintain lines of communication with Andrews AFB support organizations, health and safety engineers and Corporate ESH.
Ensure the Health and Safety monitoring utilizing safety measurements including accident reports, and enter information on Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordkeeping forms.
Responsible for evaluation and coordination of the storage and handling of hazardous material and waste with the workforce to design safe ergonomic working conditions consider the industrial work place, office, and other equipment to maximize workers safety and comfort, body positioning and productivity.
Ensure work places that use radiation and radioactive material process are evaluated and monitored to protect people and the environment of hazardous radiation exposure.
Analyze the workplace for health hazards, such as exposure to lead, asbestos, noise, pesticides, hazardous chemicals, PPE, AFOSH, NIOSH and OSHA compliance.
Review and maintain Hearing conservation, Respiratory program, Lock-out-tag-out program, CPR program, HAZCOM program, including new hire and annual work center HAZCOM training, ESOMIS program and Red Cross lifesaving training.
Support environmental plans dealing with State and Federal agencies and new employee orientation. This position is also the auditor and record keeper for ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
Coordinate with outside agencies and professionals including doctors and EHS specialist as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong working knowledge of OSHA Regulations and Environmental Regulations is required.
Exceptional communication skills, leadership abilities, and personnel management skills are required.
Must be capable of developing and administering computer products such as “Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
Experience & Education
Bachelor’s degree. Two (2) years of experience in related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.
Five (5) or more years’ experience in Aviation maintenance EHS Programs or related field.
A certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is highly desirable.
Must be capable of routinely working in a harsh outdoor environment where temperatures can reach 130 degrees.
