Do you have a passion to get humans back to the moon and eventually to Mars? NASA has developed the “Exploration Campaign” that includes steps for the development of the Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway. Jim Bridenstine, NASA Administrator, said: “The glory of the Gateway is that it’s not just for the moon. In future years, it is the best point from which to go deeper.” The first element of The Gateway is the Power Propulsion Element (PPE) and we need your expertise to deliver amazing new technologies to our customers. The PPE program is looking to build a core team of highly motivated engineers excited to be working in a fast pace, dynamic environment. This is a rare opportunity for you to help NASA meet the challenges of the first step in achieving that “long-term presence at the moon” and the stepping point for human missions to Mars.
The selected candidate will act as the design engineer for the electric propulsion subsystem of the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE). Responsibilities
include detailed subsystem design of the PPE EP system, including CAD layouts and generation of subsystem drawings to achieve program requirements, assisting with subsystem level trade studies, and coordination with propulsion subsystem and component CPEs. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting system level trade studies and completing detailed design and layout of the PPE chemical propulsion
subsystem suing Creo. The candidate will support the design with development of plans, drawings, and models.
Position is contingent upon program contract award expected by Q2 2019.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or other
Advanced proficiency in CREO CAD software package. Advanced knowledge of spacecraft system design using Creo and EPDM.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint).
Ability to work closely and rapidly within a multi-disciplined satellite design
Ability to create and work with streamlined and accurate CREO models.
Advanced knowledge of spacecraft propulsion subsystem design using Creo and EPDM.
Ability to creatively and effectively solve challenging packaging problems with
minimal iteration and supervision.
Ability to clearly communicate through drawings and solid models as well as well as verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and with adjacent disciplines. Demonstrated effective communication with external customers.
