Raytheon Global Business Services (GBS) has an opening for an Facilities Operations Specialist - HVAC Technician on the Facilities Maintenance Team in Aurora. Responsible for ensuring that Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC) components and systems are installed and maintained in a safe manner and in compliance with current National and local codes.

The HVAC technician performs a variety of tasks related to installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, cooling, ventilation and refrigeration systems using necessary hand tools and testing equipment. Work must be planned and performed in a manner to eliminate or reduce impact to normal business operations. The job duties require the HVAC technician to work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs.

This position requires knowledge of pertinent safety rules and regulations, guidelines, and safety regulations to insure that work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable law and company policies. The technician is required to follow all safety rules/procedures and to avoid known hazards in the work environment.

In addition to his/her HVAC duties, the technician shall be required to perform general maintenance activities which include but are not limited to minor plumbing repair, furniture setup and arrangement, and any other maintenance activity as requested by the Operations & Maintenance Manager. As a member of the Aurora Operations & Maintenance Department, the HVAC technician will be required to carry a pager and be available for after-hours support on a rotational basis with the other team members.

Job Description:

  • Investigate problems and perform repairs on various mechanical and electrical equipment in heating, cooling and ventilation systems
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on various mechanical and electrical equipment in heating and cooling systems
  • Monitor and inspect heating and cooling systems to ensure continued proper operation; suggesting improvements to management.
  • Proficient with thermometers, gauges, and other associated measuring devices to measure and record readings.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of mechanical equipment and diagnose necessary repairs.
  • Required to follow all safety rules/procedures and to avoid known hazards in the work environment.
  • Working knowledge of electronic wiring diagrams, schematics and architectural/mechanical blueprints
  • Track and maintain parts inventory.
  • Proficient with electric, pneumatic, DDC, VAV systems, reciprocating chillers and roof-top units
  • Install and maintain humidifiers.
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal building codes, practices, and regulations
  • Communicate in a professional manner with co-employees, subcontractors and customers
  • Carry a pager and be available for after-hours support on a rotational basis with the other team members.

Required Skills:


  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience in the Facilities HVAC field
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Universal CFC License
  • Possess a valid Colorado Drivers’ License
  • Experienced in troubleshooting HVAC and HVAC control systems
  • Must be familiar with Lockout/Tagout procedures and follow all OSHA and Raytheon Company safety policies
  • Knowledge of pertinent safety rules and regulations, guidelines, departmental operating procedures and safety regulations to insure that work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable law and company policies
  • Basic computer skills and MS Office Suite software familiarity (Word, Excel)
  • Carry a pager and be available for after-hours support on a rotational basis with the other team members.

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiar with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work order management
  • Approved apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training
  • Trade or vocational school graduation
