Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Model Maker / R&D Machinist for a position in Grand Prairie, TX to plan the layout, fixturing, and fabrication of mechanical devices; set up and operate precision machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, saws, etc. to make original parts, tools, mechanisms, and devices for experimental purposes. Work to verbal instruction, sketches, or detailed drawings. Required to solve problems relative to work-holding arrangement, unusual materials, machine settings, tools and cutters, product specifications, and fabrication methods. Will interface extensively with research engineers to refine requirements, recommend fabrication processes and perform estimates. Normally performs precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions in a developmental laboratory condition.




Basic Qualifications:
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance
- CNC Mill experience.
- Ability to comprehend mechanical drawings using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Basic computer knowledge.
- The candidate must have good communication skills, and be able to work with internal and external customers.
Desired Skills:
- Associates degree in mechanical engineering technology.
