Job Summary

AECOM has an immediate need for an experienced Project Manager with previous People Management experience in our Project Management Organization (PMO) in Calgary. The focus of this PMO group is assessment and remediation of upstream and downstream oil and gas sites under fixed price, performance based and unit based contracts . The Project Manager will be responsible for supervising a group of intermediate and junior professionals and will manage a group of upstream and downstream oil and gas remediation projects in Alberta. Having previous people management experience is required

The appropriately qualified candidate will provide outstanding leadership and Project Management skills with a focus on scheduling, monitoring, tracking and controlling. The work requires technical knowledge of soil sciences, remediation techniques and provincial contaminated site regulations.

Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance of schedule for local resources and managing workload of local team

  • Managing and coordinating assessment and remediation projects with large Oil and Gas Clients

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in support of ongoing AECOM assessment and remediation projects

  • Accountability for project performance and compliance with project delivery expectations

  • Demonstrating creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery and technical problems

  • Responsible for compliance with all AECOM project management requirements

  • Facilitate integration of technical support teams into projects

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Science or Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience which must include demonstrated management of people/junior level staff as well as knowledge of operations management

  • Demonstrated project management and client development experience in the environmental business line

  • Solid understanding of Alberta Tier 1/2 and CCME guidelines, particularly pertaining to assessment and remediation for oil and gas clients.

  • Experience designing and coordinating remedial excavations and Phase I, II and III ESAs

  • Experience developing and implementing project scheduling, monitoring and tracking systems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Contract development and contractor management

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Strong Client management skills

  • Ability to manage time effectively and competing deadlines

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel and Word

  • High capacity with a can-do, positive attitude and an ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience desired

  • Experience working on projects for major oil and gas clients

  • Experience with Regulatory Applications & Documentation

  • Experience with Site Inspections, Regulatory and Environmental Compliance, Geological and Hydrogeological Evaluation, Conceptual Site Model development and validation and Risk Assessment

  • Experience in Contract Management/Administration

  • P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Biol., or PMP registration preferred
