The Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking a dynamic Process team leader to grow our MEICA-Process team to include for a Senior Process Engineer / Commissioning Engineer, based in the Cork / Mallow area.

This is a full time, permanent role where the appropriately qualified applicant will be responsible for providing process optimisation support to municipal wastewater facilities and should have relevant experience with various wastewater treatment processes and wastewater operations. The role requires a passion for solving our client’s water, wastewater and effluent reuse problems and exploring innovative ideas and optimal solutions with them.

Whilst the role will be based in the Cork office of AECOM the ideal candidate should be flexible to occasionally work from other AECOM or client offices depending on project requirements.?

Minimum Requirements

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Contributes to the UK&I best practice design and technical innovation for the delivery of programs and projects in the wastewater treatment field as part of the wider UK&I Process team

  • Undertakes Peer Review, and HAZOP / DSEAR reviews for other projects in UK&I Water sector

  • Support in the delivery of projects to Clients within the water and wastewater sectors

  • Engage collaboratively with the Project Manager to meet and exceed client expectations and assure that AECOM’s business objectives are met

  • Contribute to business development and fostering and developing client relationships within the Business Unit

  • Feedback to the MEICA-Process Team Lead, for the Water Team in Ireland, to assist in refining the future growth and direction of the local team

  • Mentor team members on the various facets of wastewater infrastructure design

  • Participating in studies, assessments, preliminary and detailed design, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, tendering and contract administration

  • Contribute to work on prospective proposals and help to build and sustain client relationships and business development efforts

  • Support project managers on large, complex projects or programs

You will provide critical Process and Commissioning support to delivering projects on time and budget. You should be innovative and creative with strong interpersonal communication skills, and be comfortable with either working independently or in an interdisciplinary multi-functional team.?

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical)

  • A minimum experience within the water/wastewater sector

  • A sound understanding of the operation of various types of municipal wastewater treatment processes, such that would allow the successful candidate to propose measures to improve their operation, both in terms of efficiency and capacity to treat.

  • Holder of Safepass / CSR / CSCS

  • Ability to liaise with internal and external clients to promote MEICA-Process capabilities.

  • Proficient in the delivery of allocated project tasks, to quality, time and budget requirements

  • Possess excellent problem solving skills, and to be able to promote innovative solutions, where appropriate, and in keeping with client standards.

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

  • Proficient in using MS Office (Word, Excel, Access)

  • Exemplary focus, ambition and attention to detail


  • Experience of the use of SCADA systems

  • Track record in industrial effluent or municipal wastewater treatment processes

  • Experience in commissioning and operation of processes within a wastewater treatment plant
