Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our Global Team.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for directing the development of new business initiatives and providing direction for the implementation of marketing and business strategy.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide program financial and budgetary information to management.

  • Interact directly with the customers and internal operations stakeholders to develop and identify winning solutions.

  • Defined and implement key objectives of marketing strategies.

  • Manage proposal activities.

  • Develop new marketing strategies and plans for review by management for the implementation of new business development strategies. Responsible for the development of new businesses and the expansion of market share of existing business elements through lead generation.

  • Increase market share in existing business areas by working with management and engineering to perform market analysis and to develop program plans and objectives. Develop budgets and financial cost projections for existing business elements to evaluate profitability.

  • Develop policies and procedures which will guide business elements and business/ marketing/sales development teams to improve market share performance.

  • Negotiate competitive positions for new business development with customers and in-house managers. Ensure company objectives and financial targets are met. Review new business proposals for compliance to company defined business objectives.

  • Initiate measures to ensure customer satisfaction and in-house compliance to contracted requirements. Establish customer relations and good will to include customer feedback networks and continuous quality improvement initiatives and programs.

  • Perform the functions of capture manager and/or proposal manager in assigned markets and business thrust areas.

  • Develop, coordinate and execute plans that involve the development of new work from existing contracts. Assist operational managers and their customers in doing the same.

  • Coordinate strategic alliances between similar customers resulting in additional business opportunities.

  • Coordinate and lead corporate participation in trade association activities, including symposia and trade shows to maximize positive corporate exposure. Assemble marketing materials to reflect corporate capabilities. Create tailored display materials for exhibit booths. Establish and manage trade show budget.

  • Manage senior level relationships within the organization

  • Organize and ensure upkeep and compliance of all BD processes and reporting requirements.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or other related discipline.

  • Twelve years of job-related experience or equivalent; including progressive management and marketing experience.

  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.

  • Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications.

  • Ability to work in a CRM to capture all sales related activity.

  • Very strong consultative sales skills, ability to operate in a technically complex market and long sales cycle.

  • Strong business development experience and a proven track record with lead generation.

  • Superb project management abilities; both individually and as part of a team.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, and leadership skills.

  • Self – directed personality with a commitment to excellence.

  • Previous experience working in high performance organizations.

Additional Information:

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

  • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

  • This position may require various hours, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements

  • Some tasks may require repetitive wrist movement.

Special Requirements

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Facility Maintenance and/or Production Maintenance preferred.

  • May require up 75% travel.
