Job Summary

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • Technically strong and have experience in the following type of schemes: large infrastructure, below ground structures, shafts and retaining walls. Ideally, the individual will also have water treatment works and wastewater treatment works experience.

  • Fulfil the role of structural lead on water and heavy civil engineering projects. Have a sound understanding of both Structural Eurocodes and British Standards.

  • Have experience of the design process in feasibility, outline and detailed design stages.

  • Understand the application, benefits and limitations of a wide range of solutions to problems.

  • Have a sound understanding of safety, construction and operational requirements within design.

  • Take responsibility for delivering own project work to programme, cost and quality requirements.

  • Ability to liaise with other design disciplines, clients, contractors and the supply chain.

  • Value and contribute to a strong Health and Safety culture.

  • Have an enthusiastic and collaborative approach to your work, demonstrating the relevant behaviours and work ethos to solve client and project problems.

  • Ability to demonstrate the above through experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You will hold an accredited degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or have a commensurate mix of experience and qualifications.

  • You will either be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or be working towards a professional qualification with an appropriate Institution.
