Director – Process Optimisation

Our Process Led Design approach guides our architects and related design teams to deliver industrial facilities that are focused upon the long-term operational goals of the client.
Our manufacturing knowledge has translated automotive practices and thinking into the construction and transportation industries.
Our factory gained automation and control experience brings new perspectives to transport infrastructure projects such as the rail and aviation industries.
Our process improvement practitioners through the application of LEAN and Six Sigma have further unlocked new thinking to make efficiencies for our clients in Defence, Global Retail and Construction.
Our team develops innovative products and processes to help clients realise the benefits of the digital world and new manufacturing processes.
We are currently recruiting for a highly experienced professional to lead our Process Optimisation offering. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical and commercial success of this team.
Objective of the role:
To develop a top performing Process Optimisation capability within the Industry Advisory Group that wins and delivers high value consultancy projects across a broad range of industries and to integrate Lean thinking across all the work that we deliver.
The Process Optimisation team is a key part of the Industry Advisory group and as the senior leader for that capability you will:
Develop the value propositions for Lean and other process optimisation capabilities applied into traditional manufacturing environments but most significantly into newer sectors such as construction.
Set the strategy for Process Optimisation and develop a plan to grow the team and the capability.
Produce innovative thought leadership that sets AECOM apart from its competitors.
Establish best practice methods and standards for process optimisation to apply throughout the Industry Advisory group and into the wider AECOM organisation.
Create a strong network throughout AECOM to adopt Lean into delivery of their projects and with their clients.
Develop strong client relationships to sell high value advisory work and fill a reliable project pipeline.
Provide solutions to business/client challenges developed from a foundation of understanding or analysis of business practices and goals.
Collaborate with the senior leadership of the Industry Advisory Group to formulate strategy and develop exciting offerings that maximise the potential of the wider AECOM team
Ensure projects delivered under your leadership are executed to quality, cost and time.
You will be an experienced, approachable business leader, demonstrating exemplar leadership skills.
You will have significant and demonstrable experience in relevant manufacturing/construction/logistics industries.
You will have experience of working in consultancy, winning work and managing client relationships.
You will have a deep understanding of Continuous Improvement methods/processes and the application of Lean principles and Six Sigma to projects across different industries.
You will be able to demonstrate a successful background in leading and managing high profile and multi-disciplinary projects.
You will have sound financial and programme delivery management capabilities.
You will demonstrate excellent initiative and a desire for dealing with complex problems.
You will have a very good understanding of relevant markets and the opportunities they bring.
You will be confident in the production and presentation of bids; and be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively across all levels.
You will be flexible and willing to work away from the office to meet our client or business demands.
Educated to Degree level with an emphasis in Process Optimisation, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or related field
Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt Certification
Extensive logistics operations and inventory management experience ideally gained within the automotive or manufacturing industry
Strong customer focus – the ability to view issues from a customer lens
Proven Thought Leadership – ability to identify and synthesize trends to provide value added analysis and recommendations for improvement to leadership team.
Personal Excellence – High degree of integrity/confidentiality, comfort with speaking up for what is right as well as reporting/escalating risks and concerns.
Collaboration & Relationship Skills – strong relationship management and conflict resolution skills. Proven track record of positively collaborating with and influencing partners in a matrixed environment to achieve outcomes without direct responsibility.
Partnership Skills – experience leading and managing partnerships.
Communications Skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal form to different audiences with varying backgrounds.
High Energy/Flexibility – Must be a highly motivated self-starter with a sense of urgency, positive attitude and the ability to excel in a fast paced, high pressure, and dynamic environment.
