Job Description: This opening is to fill the Production Engineering Hardware Lead position within the Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) division Hardware Engineering Center. This role is responsible for program technical execution in production; this includes representing Production Engineering team throughout the design and transition phases, leading the Production Engineering team in rapid and effective resolution of technical issues, managing to and reporting technical performance measures, and ultimately optimizing technical performance to improve margins. The individual must have demonstrated Engineering leadership skills and extensive technical expertise in Electrical and/or Mechanical hardware design and production.

Specific duties will include:

  • Work closely with Design Site(s) and Supplier(s), acting as the factory Engineering point of contact for the program
  • Lead and support root cause corrective action investigations in the factory, at supply base, and design sites
  • Communicating technical status and performance to Chief Engineer and Program Manager, and product area leadership
  • Lead and/or support transition of design to production
  • Member of Configuration Control Board (CCB) and factory Change Implementation Board (CIB) chair
  • Identifying and managing risks and opportunities
  • Analyze, problem solve, and multi-task to meet deadlines working in a team environment with multiple disciplines
  • Represent manufacturing in critical design reviews to ensure design performance and margin
  • Establishing production test strategy and performing test coverage analysis
  • Integration and test activities in a hardware/software laboratory and production environment
  • Obsolescence review, resolution, and design refresh
  • Lead and support new bids, gate reviews and program reviews
  • Performing design and supplier trade studies
  • Generating schedules and monitoring and reporting earned value
  • Occasional travel

Required Skills:
  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience, including technical leadership
  • Excellent skills in technical team leadership
  • Experience in program transition and execution to production
  • Excellent written & verbal communications skills; technical writing
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:
  • Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 15+ years of related experience, including technical leadership
  • Extensive experience in transitioning designs into production and performance optimization in production phase
  • Active Secret clearance
Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical (BSEE) or Mechanical Engineering (MSEE)
