Raytheon Intelligence, Information, and Services (IIS) Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering Organization is currently seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for its Construction Engineering Group. This individual will provide technical expertise and leadership for the design and construction of mechanical systems. This Construction Engineering team has been tasked with designing and deploying systems around the world, and is composed of civil, electrical, and mechanical licensed professional engineers specializing in facility design for government customers in communications infrastructure environments. This group is tasked with site layout and design, facility design, systems transition, integration planning, construction management, systems installation, integration, optimization, and acceptance testing. The customer sites for these projects are typically government sites both in the continental United States (CONUS) and internationally (OCONUS) with agencies such as DoD, FAA, TSA or DHS. Typical facilities you will support will include data centers, command centers, sensor installations, satellite antenna complexes, radar installations, and TSA Screening equipment.
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will develop, plan, and design facility components including HVAC, piping, plumbing and fire protection systems. Work products developed will include construction drawings and specifications, cost and quantity estimates, and mechanical analyses (heat loss/gain calculations, mechanical, critical power - fuel distribution systems, and structural).You should be familiar and experienced with the UFC, UFGS, IBC, ASME, ANSI, ASHRAE, and NFPA codes. You will be responsible for technical coordination, as well as cost and schedule performance of the project design.Additionally, you will provide direction and consultation on mechanical issues at various sites and be responsible for technical work performed by lower level engineers. You should be able to work effectively in a team setting. As a senior engineer, you will be expected to work with minimal technical direction and at a high level of independence in resolving technical problems and establishing the approach for a solution.
Required Skills: As a Principal Mechanical Engineer in this group you must have at least 8 years’ experience in HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection design. Your experience should include the development of data, drawings, and specifications to permit the detailed layout and construction of complex designs. You should be proficient with AutoCAD software and have a working knowledge of MS Visio. You should have a good understanding of building code requirements and construction practices, including new facility construction, upgrades of existing facilities, and other related construction work including electric systems. You should have the ability to work effectively in a multi-task environment, and have good project management skills. You must possess strong communication skills and be comfortable in performing presentations for customers. You must have the willingness and ability to travel 15-20% of the time to various construction sites at domestic and/or international locations. You must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret security clearance (US citizenship required).
Desired Skills: Prior communications site design experience including data center design and/or prior federal government contract experience is desired. A Professional Engineer license is highly desired as well.
Required Education: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8 years of related work experience.
