Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Estimator for employment in the New York, NY office. Projects include new-build, renovation, moves, alterations and changes of commercial interiors, offices and supporting infrastructure and facilities. Typically estimates will be conceptual of nature, based on pre-design narrative scope description provided by workplace planners, and will include construction cost as well as related soft costs. The role involves considerable autonomous working and direct client and other stakeholder interaction.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

On-call estimating of a variety of construction projects to a major investment bank’s real estate portfolio across the Americas. Projects vary in size and complexity, ranging from $50,000 to $30 million.

Interpreting conceptual information as it relates to architecture, structure as well as mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life-safety services and preparing conceptual budgets based on narrative scope descriptions and test-fits.

Attending meetings and other regular direct interaction with client / workplace planners.

Maintaining a database of historical construction cost data and regularly keeping track of construction cost trends, locally and nationally.

Updating conceptual budget estimates at design milestones by performing quantity take-offs and pricing architectural, structural and MEP trades.

Attending site walk-throughs as required.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 8 years related experience

Ability to work under own initiative and unsupervised, but also as part of a team

Impeccable verbal, written and numeracy skills in a client facing capacity

Solid knowledge of interior office construction technology

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Cost or Management, Quantity Surveying, relevant construction or engineering field of study

10+ years of relevant experience

Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Professional registration with relevant institution (for example RICS, AACE CCC, etc.
