Job Description:

Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support multiple space programs in El Segundo, CA. The selected candidate will perform manufacturing and mechanical related tasks for the program and is expected to work with a team of specialized junior and senior manufacturing and mechanical engineers to support the build and test of EO/IR hardware designs. Responsibilities include creating and/or revising assembly instructions, providing build support in conjunction with technicians and other engineering disciplines, as well as design for producibility and manufacturability. Tasks also include the ability to revise and update engineering drawings and CAD models, participate in tooling/fixture design as required, as well as support Root Cause and Corrective Action tasks. The candidate will be expected to present his or her work for peer reviews. Candidate will be expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program / functional supervision to ensure the overall design objectives are met. Contacts are primarily with the immediate section manager, team lead, project leaders and other personnel (peers) within the applicable program.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in manufacturing or mechanical engineering and product support
  • Experience with electro-optical and electro-mechanical program manufacturing operations and processes
  • Working knowledge of commercial CAD software, such as Creo, Solidworks, or Unigraphics and design experience
  • Experience with M/S Office Tools i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Knowledge of DFMA principles
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a DoD clearance within a year of starting
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance analysis for drawings
  • Knowledge of modern machining techniques
  • Ability to read and create if necessary detailed engineering drawings and specifications, including understanding of GD&T
  • Environmental test experience
  • Knowledge of Windchill
  • Prior experience in Defense or Aerospace
  • Possess current SSBI/SCI

Required Education:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field from accredited university.
