Job Summary
The Medical Logistics Warehouse Foreman oversees the medical logistics facility and ensures services are integrated into the clinical and operational aspects of the hospital in collaboration with health care providers and department managers. Directly responsible for assisting in maintaining an effective and efficient medical warehouse receiving, storing, inventorying and performing quality assurance inspections on medical supplies and equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Responsible for customer services, and quality assurance of customer satisfaction
  • Lead, schedule, and instruct warehouse personnel to perform proper work techniques and procedures in support of Statement of Work requirements for managing Medical Material (Class VIII)
  • Oversee preparation of material control and accounting input for data processing, and review output documents
  • Requisition Medical Material, Repair Parts, DLA and GSA supplies 
  • Inspect and evaluate inventory management activities and provide financial reports
  • Oversee distribution and filing of records for established customer accounts
  • Implement and manage effective customer service program
  • Reconciles inventory (write offs, adjust quantities, etc.) after third inventory count has occurred.
  • Oversee government compliance and serve as point of contact for internal auditors, government auditors, and
  • Government property administrator.
  • Perform quality Perform quality control and repair parts management
  • Prepare reports on materials, supplies, equipment availability, storage space, and relocation of material
  • Utilized the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support System ( DMLSS) automation system to manage overall transactions
  • Oversees the warehouse operations and provides guidance to warehouseman
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of warehouse processes, storage and distribution
  • Knowledge and skills with pharmaceuticals, medical supplies / healthcare preferred
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and ability to handle performance issues as they arise
  • Skill and knowledge in analyzing and evaluating logistics management information system reports such as Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support System (DMLSS), Theater Enterprise Wide Logistics System (TEWLS) preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance required to operate the medical information system (MIS) and maintained as a condition of employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment

Experience & Education

  • Minimum four (5) years of experience of  Logistics / Supply Warehouse, cargo documentation, and/or logistical movement control experience including at least one (1) year OCONUS or supervisory experience
  • Experience working with Medical Supplies / Hospital or Clinical Environment (Preferred) 
  • Prefer experience handling and managing Medical Material utilizing handheld scanners to perform transactions within a warehouse environment
  • High School Diploma or higher education
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • HAZCOM Training for handling Medical Material (Preferred)
  • DoD Military Occupational Skill 68J Army Medical Logistics Specialist, Air Force, Navy or other equivalent  civilian skill is preferred
  • Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to work in warehouse facility, which may include lifting boxes, sitting or standing for extended periods of time, operating a forklift, and climbing a ladder.
  • Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
