Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Lead Reliability Technician for our manufacturing maintenance team in a plastics packaging facility in New Berlin, WI!

This reliability maintenance specialist must demonstrate commitment to industrial safety, strong mechanical / electrical skills, and Lean Manufacturing knowledge base (including RCA and corrective action), and may work as a hands-on technician up to 25-50% of the time.

  • Predictive Maintenance (PdM) experience, including Ultrasonic Testing, Infrared Thermography, Vibration Analysis, Oil/ Lubrication sampling and analysis, and Failure Mode Analysis, are critical to success in this role.

As a lead technician, this position is also responsible for providing leadership to the maintenance staff and directing the workflow as needed. Provides instruction and assistance to other technicians as needed. Communicates with the customer and the customer’s maintenance team to provide performance reports, schedules, etc. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the strong organizational/time management skills needed to be successful in this role.

Adds support to our maintenance teams by developing strategies that help create processes and programs able to achieve lower operating costs and increased asset reliability.

  • Proactively identifies potential project problems or opportunities and analyzes the issues, using all appropriate resources, to develop the optimum approach to mitigating problems and/or exploiting opportunities.

  • Maintains current knowledge of best in class maintenance practices and predictive maintenance activities

  • Identifies opportunities, perform root cause analysis, and develop reliability standards associated with proprietary machine tools and testing equipment

  • Leads and facilitates TPM events with maintenance technicians.

  • Drives Root Cause Analysis and recommends, initiates, and tracks corrective actions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning for shutdowns, turnarounds and plant outages;

  • Utilizes strong organizational problem-solving skills and creative thinking to manage continuous improvement.

  • High level maintenance planning and materials management.

  • Performing risk-based asset management and root cause analysis.

  • Developing predictive maintenance strategies and training tools.

  • Leading reliability and operations excellence.

  • Using predictive maintenance tools such as Ultrasonic Testing, Infrared Thermography, Vibration Analysis, Oil/ Lubrication sampling and analysis, and Failure Mode Analysis.

Minimum Requirements

  1. High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  2. Six years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting or repairing manufacturing equipment and systems in an industrial environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  3. Must have the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.

Physical Requirements:

  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

  • Some tasks will require the ability to walk extensively throughout facilities during a workday.

  • Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.

  • Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.

  • Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other AECOM, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.

  • Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.

  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.

  • Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.

  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Associates Degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Mechanical, or related program.

  2. Experience utilizing Continuous Improvement disciplines such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, 4 M’s, etc.

  3. Experience leading Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) events.

  4. Experience conducting PdM type surveys and assessments, including Infrared Thermography, Ultrasonic testing, Vibration Analysis, and Oil/Lubricant Analysis.

  5. Experience analyzing data to provide continuous improvements and root cause analysis driven actions.

  6. ASNT NDT Level 1 (or higher) certification in one or more PdM technologies.

  7. Experience with engineered solutions and implementation of equipment design changes and improvements

  8. Experience utilizing a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

  9. Experience in new business start-ups.
