Canada - Alberta, Fort Mackay
AECOM is seeking Instrumentation Mechanics to join our Imperial Oil Limited Kearl project located at Fort Mackay, Alberta. This is a temporary position on a 6/1 rotation to support the Fall Turnaround.
Instrument Mechanics install, maintain and repair the measuring and control devices used in industrial and commercial processing. Instrument technicians work with a wide variety of pneumatic, electronic and microcomputer devices used to measure and control pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion, force, and chemical composition.
Be able to take directions, and receptive to training and mentoring;
Proficiently identify and work with various material components;
Expert tubing skills;
Expert in pneumatic, electronic and micro-computer instrument operation;
Expert in device identification and installation;
Expertly read and comprehend drawings and specifications;
Expert tool usage, both personal (personal tools minimum listed below) and supplied;
Water pump pliers
Needle nose pliers
#6 screwdriver – Robertson
#8 screwdriver – Robertson
Small flat screwdriver
Large flat screwdriver
½ - 1 ¼ KO cutters
3/8 socket set
Open end wrench to 1”
Allan wrench set
14” Pipe wrench
¼” and 3/8” tubing benders
Expert level calibration knowledge;
Expert knowledge of multiple control installations;
Implement safe work practices and procedures;
Maintain exceptional workmanship habits;
Expert in the usage of various calibration meters and measurement devices;
Expert knowledge of Hazardous location requirements;
Mentor junior apprentices.

Journeyman Certification and/or Interprovincial Red Seal
CSTS (Construction Safety Training Systems) or PST (Petroleum Safety Training)
