Description:Machine parts to print specifications using a CNC lathe, machining center or manual machine.
Set up machine per set procedures.
Inspects parts as they are produced using standard gages, micrometers, indicators, vernier calipers, depth gages and other measuring devices, to ensure conformity to specifications.
Reports and tags out-of-tolerance parts and machining problems to supervisor, so machines can be adjusted accordingly.
Inspects cutting tools for wear to ensure quality of parts, reports worn tools to supervisor or set up person and makes adjustments during production run as required to maintaining quality parts and to keep machine running.
Perform secondary operations during machine cycle.
Deburr parts using standard deburring tools.
Uses various hand tools such as files, hammers, wrenches, etc.
Reports machine problems to supervisor to keep machine running.
Perform minor preventive maintenance to equipment. Keep machine and immediate work area clean, neat, and organized.
Reports defective parts to determine acceptability to customer.
Follow verbal instructions on how to machine assorted parts on manual and computer numerical control machine tools, to achieve production goals.
Mixes cutting fluids and maintains coolant levels to ensure a steady supply of coolant/cutting fluids to machine.
Work in other departments when needed.
Must have a thorough understanding of the correct procedures to follow and precautions to take when performing his/her work in order to prevent damage to the equipment and/or material or injury to himself/herself and/or others.
Receives written and/or verbal instructions, interprets prints, sketches, etc.
Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Must be able to lift a 50 pound part
Strong Math Background
Mechanically inclined and a fast learner
Capable of reading blueprints and using Inspection Gages
Must be able to operate multiple machines and machine types concurrently
Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment
Must understand the cutting properties of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Basic Machine Shop Technology training or related job experience.
Able to differentiate between thread sizes, pitch (course and fine threads), metric and standard threads
Experienced in using hand tools for metal finishing.
Able to use overhead hoist and pallet jacks and follow all safety procedures.
Able to work safely with cleaning chemicals and solvents.
This facility requires special access and therefore all candidates must be a US Citizen.
Computerized Numerical Control machining training or related experience.
