The KBR Software and IT Solutions Sector is looking for a Desktop Engineer to join a team of world-class engineers supporting PMA-231 and Hawkeye Software Systems. Responsibilities include developing the virtualization, sequencing, and troubleshooting of all application packages within the enterprise; work on virtualization technology, including App-V, SCCM, VMware ThinApp; analyze the development of procedures and documentation for inventory or packaged sequence distribution processes; support the agency's standard desktop hardware / software configuration and troubleshoot problems with the inventory or packaged distribution process.

The ideal candidate shall be knowledgeable about the software development life cycle (SDLC) and be able to adhere to coding standards, follow team established software development processes, and use established configuration management tools. The successful candidate will:

  • Handle daily technical support activities on desktop support, data network and server management
  • Setup desktop computers and peripherals and test network connections
  • Install and test desktop software applications and internet browsers
  • Test computers to ensure proper functioning of computer systems
  • Extend computer support for systems’ software and hardware
  • Setup computers and install software for various applications and programs
  • Interact with staff on desktop problems and their resolution
  • Network and connect computers within organization to better communication



  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar discipline is required
  • Two (2) years of related experience required. Four (4) additional years of related experience may substitute for the degree requirement
  • Clearance Requirement: US Citizen with existing Department of Defense (DoD) clearance or US Citizen eligible for a DoD clearance

Experience / Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of patch management and software distribution
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle
  • Experience with Windows and Windows-based applications, knowledge of Apache Tomcat Web Development
  • Strong software lifecycle management experience
  • Knowledgeable with configuration management tools such as Jira or Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with strict attention to detail


  • Knowledgeable with Object oriented programming
  • Experience with Java, JSP, XML, and/or JavaEE development environments (Eclipse IDE)
  • Experience with project management and/or Scrum/Agile tools (MS Project, Visio, etc.)
  • Industry certifications are highly desired (CISSP, Security , CSM, PMP, etc.)
