Description:Seeking computer systems architect with experience in heterogeneous laboratory environments to become a member of the Labs & Technical Services (L&TS) Computer Resources Engineering (CRE) team. Successful candidate will provide technical direction for IT infrastructure design, development, hardening, and functional verification. Candidate will participate in all project phases including proposal development, technical and strategic direction, integration of new technologies, as well as final checkout and delivery.
Detailed responsibilities include:
a. Providing detailed computer and network designs that are compliant with cyber-security and system processing requirements.
b. Generating detailed computer and network design artifacts.
c. Providing network specifications to sub-system suppliers.
d. Evaluating and providing feedback to suppliers on their system and network designs.
e. Establishing and documenting best practices and policies for sustainment of computer systems (i.e. best practices for system backups, mass storage designs, or periods processing).
f. Providing expert IT-related integration skills to augment the L&TS system engineering teams during integration.
Candidates must exhibit excellent problem solving skills, be a team player, possess excellent communications and interpersonal skills, and be able to adjust work schedule periodically to support program activities.
Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access and a Secret clearance updated within the last 5 years to start.
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
System administration experience in supporting/managing various OS platforms such as Linux (SLES and Redhat), MS Windows (desktop and Server), or UNIX (Solaris 9/10).
Experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Experience in design and implementation of SANS.
Security+ CE and/or CISSP certification preferred.
Advanced understanding of LANs/WANs, demonstgrated through related professional level networking experience.
CISCO and/or Extreme network switch experience.
Working knowledge of RMF/JSIG policies and procedures.
Working knowledge of standard network services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, etc)
Experience with configuring VMs, scripting, C/C++, PERL, Oracle Database, PostgreSQL Database, mariaDB, NetApp Data ONTAP and MS Office applications including VISIO.
Any additional vendor provided advanced technical training and/or certifications.
Must be able to provide 2nd and/or 3rd shift and weekend support as required.
F-35 Program clearances.
Must be willing to mentor junior-level team members.
