Description:The LCS Test Lead Engineer will perform the following tasks:
Coordinate LCS T&E activities including planning, documentation, test procedures & execution of shipboard installation, configuration, testing, debug, trials, & certification, for the following Mission Systems areas; TRS-4D Radar (ASR), SeaRAM Guided Missile Weapon System (MLS), AN/UPX-29(V) Interrogator System (IFF), 57mm MK 110 Gun (GS), MK 110 FCS-57 Fire Control System (GFCS), ALEX MK 137 Mod 1, 130mm Launcher (DLS), WBR-2000 (ESM), Total Ship’s Computing Environment (TSCE), Exterior Communications System (EXCOMMs), and COMBATSS-21 (C2).
Coordinates with FMM Liaisons (Engineering, Production, Test, Planning and Supply) as well as with LMCo site Engineers, Quality Assurance (QA), and Maintenance/Cable Technicians. Additionally, coordinates with Government representatives on all shipboard activities regarding hull assigned (Engineering, Production Oversight, and QA).
Develop & implement the hull test strategy & schedule, integrated with the ship production, HM&E, cable, navigation, and combat systems test schedules.
Lead the Team, including all team partners & vendors, to achieve program milestones associated with the Test Lead’s’ assigned hull.
Coordinate test planning, dependency management, and test conduct of the Stage 4-7 testing, working with the Installation Engineers (Seaframe, Combat Systems), ship builder, LM teams, vendors, QA, and customer as required.
Help coordinate and support Stage 4-7 testing for the shipyard’s test program with the shipyard’s assigned Test Lead as required.
Identify, communicate, and coordinate problems and deficiencies impacting MS installation and test, and develop and support mitigation strategies as appropriate.
Coordinate the development & documentation of daily test plans & status to manage & track test dependencies & progress.
Coordinate Trials planning & conduct with the shipyard and LM teams for MS area. Support underway test events and subsequent trial card resolution as required.
Coordinate Frequency Authorization meetings with the Navy for assigned hull.
Serve as primary LCS Test Lead liaison with the Navy test community.
Effective written and oral communication skills, and ability to work independently.
Ability to define, document, and implement improvements to site test and production processes and ensures all Contractor Operator and Work Instructions are current.
Ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Extensive technical expertise in the field of Integration & Test, with a proven track record of managing a large project, and all related aspects that feed into that project, while maintaining full knowledge of other related disciplines in both the Mission Systems and HM&E areas of shipboard testing.
Candidate must be able to obtain an Interim Secret clearance prior to start.
Understanding of ship construction methodology for mission systems: e.g., Foundations, Mounting Methods, Grounding and Bonding, Cable Runs (TEMPEST, PDS, etc.), Compartment Security Process, Cable Terminations & Test, ILO and STW activities, Stage 2-7 testing, Test support activities (IATT, IATO, Frequency Allocations, SAR Requests, etc.) and general shipboard testing (design, implementation, debug, test) and scheduling is desired.
Ideal candidate would have a familiarization with CCI/COMSEC/KEYMAT.
Ideal candidate would have sound knowledge and experience with USN regulatory body requirements, classification standards, marine engineering practices, specifications and rules for above areas.
An ideal candidate would possess the following abilities;
Ability to coordinate production, vendors, and outside agencies for required installation, light-off, test, and support of major milestones.
Ability to research design and implementation issues through the use of technical drawings from vendors, shipbuilder and Government entities.
Ability to perform analysis and studies in depth, make professional presentations, and keep up with technical advancements in above areas.
