The carpenter possess skills using several trade techniques and methods of carpentry, masonry, glazing, roofing, floor covering and siding occupations to diagnose potential problems and to lay out and construct difficult types of articles and structures.
Ability to set up, adjust, adapt, maintain and use hand and power tools of the trade.
Ability to use shop math and read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders to determine dimensions and materials required.
Ability to operate and have operator’s license for vehicles up to 1-1/2 ton capacity. Skill in utilizing the accepted trade techniques and methods of painting duties.
Performs maintenance and finish carpentry and millwork necessary in new construction, modification, maintenance and/or repair of buildings, structures and/or items, with complete responsibility for attention to and completion of all details of a project.
As an individual worker or member of a crew, performs and occasionally directs the work of lower graded employees, in the performance of carpentry and related adjunct duties.
Perform, layout and clean up demolition projects as assigned.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical warehouse environment with no unusual hazards, frequent lifting to 20-50 pounds, kneeling, standing, and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Procedure Compliance - Each employee must read, understand and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. One (1) year certificate from an accredited college or university or five (5) years or more related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence. Ability to apply basic math to estimate square footage, square yards, cubic foot/yards, linear or board feet, and quality of items needed to accomplish job.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 40 to 45 pounds. Requires the ability to bend, stoop, crawl, climb and stand.
Passing a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check is required.
Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check (NAC) within 60 days of hire if required and have a valid driver's license.
Must be available for any shift. Willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Work on this contract is performed at the Red River Army Depot. Access to the Depot requires all covered individuals to be registered with the United States Selective Service.
