The United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) G6, a subordinate command of USINDOPACOM, is required to plan, modernize, operate, and maintain the Command, Control, Communications, Computers (C4) and Information Technology (IT) systems and services supporting USARPAC, its subordinate commands, and strategic and operational partners.
The Network Engineering lead is responsible for supporting USARPAC G6 Infrastructure Modernization and IT Services area including Network Discovery and Situational Awareness; Advanced Routing/Switching Engineering (SDN, MPLS, Shortest Patch Bridging, etc.); Optical Transport/Circuit Engineering, Operations, Upgrades and Efficiency; RF Transport (SATCOM, Line of Sight, Beyond Line of Site, etc.); EiOP; Conversion/TDM Replacement and decommissioning; Secure Networking Engineering (Commercial Systems for Classified, Classified Systems Engineering [SIPR, JWICS, NSAnet, etc.); Migration Services.
General responsibilities include: Evaluates, designs, documents, installs, implements, tests, performs problem isolation and resolution, monitors, tunes, and sets standards. Maintains a complex range of computer network components and systems. Performs these functions across a wide range of network facilities including physical media, protocol stacks, hubs, routers, bridges, gateways, digital servers, line drivers, telecommunications transport facilities, mainframe and related software/hardware, and network management components.
Plans and coordinates major computer network initiatives. Researches, evaluates, and recommends new computer network equipment and technologies. Utilizes monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to trouble shoot and isolate problems, gauge network performance, and trace data and protocol activity. Devises solutions to complex operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment. Develops and executes contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages. Provides internal consulting, technical guidance, information and support to application developers, computer operations, workstation support, company management and departmental clients.
Location: Ft. Shafter, Honolulu (Oahu), Hawaii with required travel to other OCONUS/CONUS locations.
The Network Engineering Lead (or Computer Networks Lead) manages all areas of the customer's network projects. The Network Engineering Lead is responsible for the coordination of requirements in the portfolio for project planning, scheduling, cost estimating, monitoring, and reporting.
