Job Summary

AECOM is looking for an engineer to support its growing business in transmission line design. This position will be based in either our Princeton, New Jersey or Fort Mill, South Carolina office.

Typical Responsibilities:

a. Support for Preparation of proposals for transmission line projects

b. Detailed design of transmission line projects, including:

i. Preparation of documents for permit applications

ii. Preparation of civil, structural and electrical calculations and design documents using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS- TOWER and other software tools

iii. Preparation of specifications for procurement of structures and materials for construction

iv. Interface with clients and construction personnel

v. Construction specifications and drawings

vi. Field walk-downs

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements for Engineer III:

  • B.S. in Electrical or Structural Engineering and 4 years overall experience in design of structures or electrical power systems including 3 years of experience in design of high voltage transmission lines for utilities in the U.S. or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Minimum Requirements for Engineer IV:

  • B.S. in Electrical or Structural Engineering and 6 years overall experience in design of structures or electrical power systems including 5 years of experience in design of high voltage transmission lines for utilities in the U.S. or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER software

  • Familiarity with NESC

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in all areas of HV transmission line design preparing and reviewing project design criteria, structure loading trees, plan & profile drawings, and other construction documents.

  • Have extensive knowledge of transmission line hardware, assemblies, guying, anchoring and construction methods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Electrical or Structural Engineering

  • Field experience on transmission line projects

  • Professional Engineering License in any state in the U.S. with the ability to get licensed in others states by comity
