Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a mid-level candidate for the Traffic Forecasting Group Manager position who is creative and highly talented for immediate employment in the Raleigh office.

AECOM is seeking a qualified applicant with 6+ years of experience, who is able to demonstrate an established career in the transportation engineering field, most notably in the area of traffic forecasting and modeling. The candidate must have a high level of understanding of TransCad software and traffic forecasting principles. Experience working on NCDOT projects is preferable. Additionally, the candidate would have experience working in other traffic engineering areas such as safety analysis, capacity analysis, and signal design/timing. The incumbent can look forward to supporting major projects such as transportation environmental impacts statements, corridor studies and feasibility studies.

You will work as part of a creative team to perform analyses and other technical input into a variety of areas. Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Independently lead the Traffic Forecasting Group, managing projects, and direct reports

  • Performing analyses using a variety of tools including Excel, traffic modeling platforms or other analytical tools

  • Writing complex reports for internal and external review

  • Interacts regularly with clients to expand work assignments or market new work

  • May prepare marketing materials and making calls to potential new clients

  • Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.

  • Collaborates with other engineers to research, analyze, or resolve complex transportation design issues

  • Participates in public meetings or hearings to explain planning proposals, to gather feedback from those affected by projects, or to achieve consensus on project design

  • Presenting information for review by technical and non-technical audiences

  • Understanding trends and best practices in the transportation industry

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and 6+ years of related equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Experience in traffic forecasting/transportation planning at the level of 6 plus years of experience.

  • Thorough understanding of traffic forecasting/procedures/policies

  • Demonstrate leadership skills and communication skills requiring client interaction

  • Ability to work with various multi-disciplined teams is essential to this role

  • Familiar with MicroStation/AutoCAD and software like Synchro, HCS, TransCad, Excel, and ArcGIS

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 + years of experience and NCDOT knowledge.
