Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical & Instrument Superintendent to join our team in support of a newly awarded Operations & Maintenance Program for a client site located in the Greater Pittsburgh, PA area.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

  • Under limited direction, has responsibility for all electrical & instrument construction activities on a project.

  • Reports to the Construction Manager and is thoroughly knowledgeable and fully accountable with considerable latitude in decision making.

  • Interprets, organizes and coordinates work assignments.

  • Assures a strong “safety base” is incorporated in all aspects of the work.

  • Assures craft employees receive required training and certifications.

  • Performs Condition Assessments and Behavioral Observations of work areas and employees. Corrects noted deficiencies and implements corrective measures.

  • General inspection of the workers and their performance, work plans, safety and qualify.

  • Audit JSA crew meetings.

  • Coordinates work activities with other Discipline Superintendents and Plant Area Coordinators.

  • Responsible for work procedures, scheduling, cost control, project specification conformity, establishment of manpower levels.

  • Project conformance to national, local and/or company building codes and the maintenance of accurate records.

  • Interprets, organizes, and coordinates work assignments.

  • Oversees and contributes to planning, estimating and field execution.

  • Monitors craft performance relative to budget, schedules and deadlines

  • Monitors manpower utilization, effectiveness, and productivity.

  • Enforces work rules.

  • Implements day-to-day work assignments through the craft general foreman.

The Electrical & Instrument Superintendent is responsible for the organization, direction, supervision and coordination of all E&I construction activities on a construction project site as delineated in the applicable project execution procedures, site specific safety /quality plan and project execution plan.

Minimum Requirements

Electrical & Instrument Superintendent II

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree + 6 years of field construction experience, possessing a solid power controls and instrumentation background, supporting industrial facility Operation & Maintenance programs

OR

  • Associates Degree + 8 years of field construction experience, possessing a solid power controls and instrumentation background, supporting industrial facility Operation & Maintenance programs

OR

  • High School Diploma / GED + 10 years of field construction experience, possessing a solid power controls and instrumentation background, supporting industrial facility Operation & Maintenance programs

AND

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Assistant Superintendent or General Superintendent position

  • Previous oil/gas/chemicals or power industry experience

  • Previous operations & maintenance and/or turnaround experience

  • Previous experience managing union building trades personnel

  • Previous experience managing third party sub-contract vendors

  • Demonstrated knowledge of project controls tools – Cost control and reports, change order processes, earned value reporting and evaluation process, productivity measurement

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook

OR

Electrical Superintendent III

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree + 8 years of field construction experience, possessing a solid power controls and instrumentation background, supporting industrial facility Operation & Maintenance programs

OR

  • Associates Degree + 10 years of field construction experience, possessing a solid power controls and instrumentation background, supporting industrial facility Operation & Maintenance programs

OR

  • High School Diploma / GED + 12 years of field construction experience, possessing a solid power controls and instrumentation background, supporting industrial facility Operation & Maintenance programs

AND

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Assistant Superintendent or General Superintendent position

  • Previous oil/gas/chemicals or power industry experience

  • Previous operations & maintenance and/or turnaround experience

  • Previous experience managing union building trades personnel

  • Previous experience managing third party sub-contract vendors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in electrical & instrument field construction supervision

  • Experience working in Chemical and Refinery facilities.

  • Oil/Gas/Chemical and/or Power industry experience in maintenance and/or turnaround operations.
