The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Assist Project Manager by providing engineering design support (engineering reports, design calculations, quantity and cost estimates) for roadway, hydraulics, hydrology, and/or civil engineering design projects
Perform professional engineering work involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and design criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks
Be responsible for the preparation and production of reports, plans, specifications and estimates
Be involved in all project aspects from client meetings, design/study development and site/field visits during design and construction
Capable of working independently or within (or leading) a design team
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with the project team, government agencies and clients
Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Approves and signs off on work.
Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
Participates in development of technical proposals.
Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
8+ years of previous design experience on transportation projects including Schematic Development and Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E)
Professional Engineering (PE) License
Experience designing highway/roadway systems
Experience with relevant roadway design software including, but not limited to, MicroStation, GEOPAK and OpenRoads
Familiar with MS Office 2010 software (Excel, Word, Project) is required
Experience with Business Development/Client Relations
Experience with ProjectWise and OpenRoads
Experience with GeoPak Drainage, SWMM, HY-8, and HEC Programs
