AECOM is seeking a Traffic Monitoring Operator in Saint Louis, MO.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Provides information to the traveling public related to current travel conditions, maintains traffic interruption reports and manages incidents on the metropolitan roadways from the Control Room.
Assesses large volumes of data (both static and real-time) from a wide variety of sources to detect possible roadway incidents.
Monitors the Advanced Transportation Management System software, checks road sensor data and confirms the data using CCTV video.
Maintains telephone or radio communications with first responders, field technicians, 911 Operators and public service agencies. Once assessment is complete, determines the facts and severity of traffic incidents and prepares the information for dissemination to the motoring public.
Responsible for the maintenance, quality, accuracy and timeliness of all information disseminated, including Dynamic Message Signs, Changeable Message Signs, public traveler information websites and internal notifications.
Monitors First Responder agencies and various communication channels to assess traffic conditions.
Activates appropriate response(s) to detected and/or reported incidents; includes dispatch of first responders and location assistance to active event scenes.
Additional responsibilities include:
Works under direct supervision performing routine and repetitive duties.
On-the-job training is received in an area of technical specialty.
Monitoring the roadways, including detecting, confirming, updating, and responding to scheduled and unscheduled traffic events and congestion with ITS devices such as closed circuit TV, detectors, etc.
Act like an emergency dispatcher within a call center environment dispatching Road Rangers via a two-way radio system to assist motorists, respond to events and other activities that require timely and efficient responses.
Other duties assigned
High School Diploma
2+years of experience in a call center, dispatch center, or control room environment or two years of college education.
Associates degree in related field or equivalent mix of education and practical experience
Proficiency using Microsoft products, ATMS (Automated Traffic Management System) Software Suite.
Self-motivated and excellent at multi-tasking; ability to perform well under pressure in a fast paced environment; thorough knowledge of the local roadway system. Ability and Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
An intimate knowledge of state roadways, including their alternate names, the jurisdiction they are located, where the jurisdiction changes and alternate routes when available Proficiency using Microsoft products
National Incident Management System, ICS 100 and ICS 700 Certificates.
Previous experience as a transportation Traffic Management Center Operator
