Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our facility operations & maintenance team in Mossville and Peoria, IL

  • Typical work schedule is 7AM-4PM

This Facilities Project Electrical Engineer provides the technical expertise, leadership and guidance to ensure the economical design, construction, installation and maintenance of electrical utilities, assigned service systems, facilities and equipment, and other projects associated with Facilities, Utilities and Plant Engineering responsibilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, daily execution and proficiency in:

  • Industrial Power Distribution

  • Knowledge of Industrial power distribution (13K, 4160, 480, 120 volt power)

  • Understanding / troubleshooting power distribution / systems

  • Power reliability

  • Testing of electrical systems

  • Industrial lighting systems

  • Emergency power systems (generator, transfer switch, UPS, PDU)

  • Troubleshooting issues, investigating and determining causes for failure, identifying needs to improve systems or equipment, and managing repairs

  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems

  • Electrical support for manufacturing processes

  • Support, manage, and coordinate the repair of auxiliary systems, including:

  • Site camera and security systems

  • Fire alarm and notification systems

  • Two-way radios/satellite and FCC licensing

  • Facility lighting

  • Site data center power (UPS)

  • Emergency power systems and gensets

  • Energy reporting and management:

  • Energy budget

  • Electrical utility exporting

  • HV controls system (GBVP)

  • Allen Bradley PLC libraries and programs

  • Electrical Safety

  • Electrical support for decommissioning of systems (safety and safely)

  • Understanding of standards and specifications, recommending changes to resolve design and construction problems, and writing periodic reports on the progress of the project

  • Support other facilities engineers and directing efforts of contract engineering firms.

  • Provide design information, review and approve proposals, and serve as the primary company contact.

  • Estimate costs for equipment, materials and installation as a basis for determining the feasibility of repairs and alternatives.

  • Approve drawings, specify equipment and write purchase requisitions.

  • Supervise the work of outside contractors.

  • Resolve problems in designing the most economical, efficient systems, deciding what or which equipment should be purchased, making recommendations and keeping up-to-date on technical advances in the design field

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ten years of experience in facility electrical engineering, facility electrical maintenance, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in designing and/or redesigning electrical service systems such as electrical power components for sub-stations, lighting systems, plant utilities (water, gas, steam, air, heating, ventilation), or manufacturing systems.

  • Must have the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.

  • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

  • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

  • Some tasks will require the ability to walk extensively throughout facilities during a workday.

  • Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.

  • Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.

  • Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other AECOM, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.

  • Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.

  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.

  • Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.

  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

  • Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in planning and execution of facility related projects.

  • Experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and maintaining electrical service systems including electrical power components for sub-stations, lighting systems, material handling or conveyor systems, and utilities for water, gas, steam, air, heating, ventilation, etc.

  • Experience performing electrical maintenance and repair on facility related equipment in an industrial/ manufacturing environment.

  • Experience managing contractors.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.

  • Familiarity with PLCs and PLC programming.

  • Experience building relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, and service providers.

Other Attributes:

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
