The Transit Engineer in the Houston Office is a mid-career position that will report to the Transit Engineering Team Lead in the Austin, TX market. The position includes support for business development activity, management and delivery of transit planning studies, preliminary design studies and final design of transportation/transit improvement projects. Clients include Capital Metro, Texas Department of Transportation as well as counties, municipalities, and regional planning agencies. The successful candidate may be asked to work on multiple projects and serve as a project manager and/or technical task leader on selected projects. The candidate will coordinate, cooperate, and work collaboratively with others in office throughout the AECOM Central Region.
Additional job responsibilities may include:
Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
elements for engineering works.
BA/BS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
5+ years of experience
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
Previous Transit design experience
EIT with the ability to obtain a Texas PE license
