Job Summary


Maintains aircraft and support equipment electrical and environmental systems. Performs aircraft servicing, launch and recovery, corrosion control, and inspection with minimum supervision. Operates ground support equipment and flight line vehicles. Assists in aircraft equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks. Works for the Avionics Specialist Lead.


  • Performs on and off aircraft and equipment electrical and environmental systems maintenance to include troubleshooting, repairing and adjusting components.

  • Performs aircraft scheduled/unscheduled on and off equipment maintenance.

  • Services aircraft with fuel, oil, grease, hydraulic fluid, air, oxygen and nitrogen.

  • Launches and recovers aircraft, to include tie-down, cover, plug and pin removal and installation, marshalling, and assists on pilot preflight.

  • Operates GSE, flight line vehicles and other support equipment as required.

  • Orders aircraft/equipment parts.

  • Assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.

  • Completes maintenance documentation using IMDS and required forms.

  • Must be willing to train to other aircraft maintenance tasks as required.

  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.

  • Assists in upkeep of assigned facilities/grounds as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Physical Demands:

This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hanger/flight line-like environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.

Work Environment:

The diversity of work conditions may range an environment where there is little on no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of seven years of hands-on aircraft/equipment electrical and environmental experience and completed a military aviation technical school or possess an Airframe and Power Plant License.

  • Must be able to work day shift, night shift or weekend duty and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required CONUS and OCONUS deployment may be required.

  • Must deal with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional and effective manner.

  • Must be in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Must have a current civilian driver’s license, and be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver’s license.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim secret government security clearance as a minimum.

  • Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations

  • Must have an in depth knowledge of aircraft common and special tools and test equipment.

  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of aircraft technical orders/job guides/publications—read, interpret, follow and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publications.

  • Must have a working knowledge (input and extract data) of computers.

  • Must be willing and able to work with job required hazardous materials

  • Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain aircraft/equipment Red X and IPI certification within 60 days of hire.

  • Must be willing and able to conduct specialty on the job training
