Our Transportation Team, based in our new modern offices in Cardiff, currently has a vacancy for a Highways Engineer who will take responsibility in all aspects of highway design to work on local, national and international schemes.
We are looking to enhance and enlarge the team in Cardiff with people who have a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination. The office is currently engaged on a number of interesting and challenging projects in Wales, as well as supporting projects in other regional offices.
Our services offered to our clients include the full range and scope of major highways from inception to completion across all the key discipline areas. Our client list includes Welsh Government, South Wales Trunk Road Agency, Cardiff Council, Vale of Glamorgan Council, and other national clients.
Work under the direction of Principal/ Senior Engineers
Assist in the provision of technical inputs, across a range of specialisms in the field of highway engineering
Reporting to Principal and Senior Engineers, you will undertake a variety of tasks providing as an individual or through team effort, a range of design and written deliverables
Show technical competence and through experience, gather and take on board the the skills of others in computer based applications and tasks including use of software such as MX, WinDES, and the Microsoft Office Suite of programmes including MSProject
Undertake Project activities in line with Company Policy, including technical and commercial aspects, as appropriate to the grade
Take an assistant role on projects within particular skill area – e.g. drainage, pavements, geometric layouts etc.
Plan, lead and undertake site visits, as required
Plan and attend meetings – internal and external, as required
Liaison with sub-consultants and external parties, as required.
Participate as a team member on a number of levels, including; office disciplines and projects
Be proactive and contribute to a safer work environment

For this role, we are seeking an experienced Highways Engineer with the following attributes:
A degree in Civil Engineering
Previous post-graduation experience in highway design in UK
Competent in use of MS Office software
A demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety including CDM
A comprehensive knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
Willing to undertake occasional periods of secondment to construction sites
You will have proven design experience, delivering to quality, time and budget. You will have experience of working collaboratively as part of a team developing a range of major highway and infrastructure projects. If you are a self-motivated individual who is aspiring to take a lead role in delivering high quality projects assisting the Project Manager in the design development of schemes, then this is a role that will give you that experience.
Working towards Incorporated/Chartered Engineer status of respective professional institution
Competent in use of WinDes software
Site Supervision experience
A full clean driving licence
CSCS card holder?
