Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer or Senior Hydrogeologist/Geologist for employment in the Orange, CA office. In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers and lead environmental investigation and remediation tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.

Under the supervision of a Project Manager or senior-level team member, the successful candidate will:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out tasks

  • Lead environmental investigation and remediation tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary project team

  • Develop subcontractor relationships and manage implementation of their services

  • Manage and coordinate complex field tasks involving groundwater monitoring, drilling and construction in the public-right-of way

  • Oversee permitting and access agreements with numerous public agencies and other stakeholders

  • Lead report writing tasks with the support of more junior staff

  • Task manage significant portions of a larger project

  • Assist Project Managers to successfully deliver projects on-schedule and on-budget

This is a Project Manager-track position, therefore, the ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from Project Managers. Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Geology

  • 6+ years of experience in related field, preferably environmental consulting for Federal, State, or private clients

  • Remedial investigation, remediation planning, or design experience

  • Cost estimating experience

  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour training

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software

  • Demonstrated technical writing abilities

  • Strong writing, communication, and team building/leading skills

  • Ability to travel for short-term regional project assignments/meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Geology preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in related field, preferably environmental consulting for Federal, State, or private clients

  • Applicants with the right experience but with a degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural resources, Wetlands management, other planning, or an earth science-related field may also be considered

  • Experience with CERCLA RI/FS and RD/RA projects with commercial or DOD clients

  • Depending on work experience, applicants with 2-8 years of experience will be considered for this position

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification is preferred, although consideration will be given to candidates working towards those certifications

  • Remediation bid document preparation experience

  • Experience with proposal writing and proposal cost estimating

  • Proficiency in GIS, AutoCad, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Access
