Job Summary

AECOM and the Process Technologies Organization (Austin, Texas) are seeking a Process Chemical Engineer to support the development, design and optimization of pollution control and byproduct handling and/or beneficiation processes associated with the Power, Industrial, Oil and Gas and related industries.

The successful candidate is expected to apply chemical engineering principles in the completion of assignments in accordance with AECOM and client standards while conforming to the specified project scope, budget and schedule. This position is client facing at times, and a successful candidate will be professional, self-motivated, and energetic with excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

The Process Engineer will execute tasks with minimal oversight as well as lead/manage tasks independently. The successful candidate will be able to apply experienced engineering judgement to solve complex problems.

Typical projects are throughout North America, can range in value from $100,000 to $100,000,000, and can encompass all phases of project execution, including engineering, procurement and construction.

The Process Engineer works under the direction of the Process Engineering Team Lead.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Process design basis development;

  • Process Flow Diagram development;

  • Material and energy balance development;

  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, project lists and registers, and equipment and instrumentation datasheet development;

  • Process control strategy and operating manual development;

  • Assistance with equipment procurement and bid evaluation;

  • Read and digest literature and analyze data to develop conclusions;

  • Executing laboratory-, bench-, pilot- and full-scale test programs;

  • Training of client staff in proper process operation and maintenance practices;

  • Process commissioning and start-up support; and

  • Field testing, measurement, troubleshooting, and optimization support.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.

  • 4+ years of experience

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.

  • AutoCAD experience is a plus.

  • Strong technical and writing skills.

  • Proficiency making technical presentations.

  • Strong ability to analyze data.

  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or PE

  • Experienced with simulation tools like AspenTech HYSYS, AspenPlus.

  • Position involves moderate travel in support of projects (up to 20%)
