AECOM is actively seeking an energetic and technology minded LiDAR/GPS Field Technician for employment in the Morrisville, North Carolina office. The LiDAR/GPS Field Technician will report to the Field Operations Supervisor in the Information Management Solutions Group and support both internal and external clients across multiple business lines. This position will support a variety of projects that require GPS and/or LiDAR data collection and can including site assessments, building scans, construction, environmental permitting, inspections, infrastructure, water resources, transportation and more. A successful candidate will work with various AECOM staff and dynamic project teams to support field data collection, data processing, equipment and deployment preparation, mobilization and other project tasks. Occasional to frequent travel to support project deployment and field data collection activities is a requirement of this position.
This is a great opportunity for a new graduate seeking to build on technical skills while receiving on the job training. Duties include utilizing GPS, LiDAR and other hardware and software to collect field data and conduct field assessments. Additionally, the position requires processing and developing data files to be used in various electronic deliverables and finishing packages. Candidates should have a general understanding of GPS technology and some familiarly with its use in the field. An ideal candidate will demonstrate technical savvy, have an interest in computer/mobile technology platforms and a strong desire to learn and expand their technical skills.
High school degree & 2 years of field data collection experience OR an Associate’s degree
A valid driver’s license
Ability to travel on 2 weeks rotation
Must be a US Citizen, due to working with government contracts
A Technical two year degree, Associates degree or Bachelor degree in Building Information Management, Survey, Geography, Geosciences or related field.
Experience with LiDAR equipment and software products used to process data.
Experience with GPS hardware and software (Trimble, Arrow, Leica, etc.)
Comfortable working in a fast paced multi-tasking environment.
Solid familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
Some familiarity with GPS, LiDAR or similar equipment used to collect geospatial data.
Computer/Tablet proficiency on Windows, iOS, and Android.
Possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate in both verbal and written form.
Ability to work effectively with a team and efficiently individually.
Willingness to problem solve and troubleshoot field equipment.
