Job Summary

AECOM – Technical Services is seeking a Demolition and Decommissioning Specialist to be based in our Oak Ridge, TN location

The D&D job family performs construction/engineering assignments of a varied nature requiring a full working knowledge of construction engineering practices and the exercise of professional judgment within the framework of broad guidelines.

Level Specific Responsibilities:

  • Receives technical and operational supervision from supervising construction engineer or assigned supervising discipline superintendent.

  • Assigned to a single discipline within a single area of a project.

  • May provide technical and administrative guidance to administrative personnel.

  • Performs construction/engineering assignments of a varied nature requiring a full working knowledge of construction engineering practices and the exercise of professional judgment within the framework of broad guidelines provided by superiors.

  • Assists construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures. Coordinates engineering or construction problems with superintendents

  • Prepares or directs preparation of field bulk material purchase requisitions, including estimating the quantities and material takeoffs of the field purchases of materials.

  • Track commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database programs as required.

  • Assists in coordination of vendor material deliveries, storage of materials, expediting and engineering reports related to the schedule.

  • Prepares projections and schedules for manpower, material and equipment requirements.

  • Prepares field change notices, extra work orders and back charge notices.

  • Prepares assigned Project Controls programs. Reviews project controls documents on progress. Assures the project controls programs are fully automated for use in the field.

  • Prepares cost estimates and reviews project design and engineering bills of materials to ensure their completeness.

  • Maintains records of costs and quantity information, evaluates data, prepares applicable reports as requested by project management utilizing established, standardized automation tools

  • Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with plans and specifications

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or demonstrated combination of education/training and experience

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in the construction industry

Other requirements:

  • Technical knowledge of a specialized engineering discipline, contracts administration and/or cost and scheduling relating to the construction of heavy industrial projects or commercial complexes.

  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications

  • Working knowledge of project management tools

  • Awareness of environmental compliance laws and requirements.

  • Awareness of government compliance standards.

  • Knowledge of safety programs.

  • Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
