Purpose and Scope:
Installs, services and repairs stoves, refrigerators, dishwashing machines, and other electrical household or commercial appliances, using hand tools, test equipment and following wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications. This person connects appliance to power source and test meters, such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter, observes readings on meters and graphic recorders, examines appliance during operating cycle to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks and loose parts, and disassembles appliances and examines mechanical and electrical parts.
The worker traces electrical circuits, following diagram and locates shorts and grounds, using ohmmeter, calibrates timers, thermostats and adjusts contact points, and cleans and washes parts, using wire brush, buffer, and solvent to remove carbon, grease and dust. This person replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers and defective wiring, repairs and adjusts appliance motors, reassembles appliance, adjusts pulleys and lubricates moving parts, using hand tools and lubricating equipment.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
hile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud or unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Must be a US Citizen.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years' experience and specific knowledge in maintenance either through schooling or verifiable on the job experience.
Must have a valid and current state driver's license.
Must be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
Must understand and be able to use Technical Manuals.
Must be able to complete paperwork associated with maintenance and repairs.
Must possess basic computer skills.
Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Position may require travel.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Army MOS 52C or 52D (preferred)
Army MOS 52C Utilities Equipment Repairer: The Utilities Equipment Repairer is responsible for supervising and performing maintenance on utilities equipment and special purpose support systems. Some of your duties as a Utilities Equipment Repairer may include:
Maintaining, testing, and repairing electric motors in many kinds of machines, such as lathes and pumps.
Inspecting and repairing electrical equipment.
Inspecting and repairing electric instruments, such as voltmeters.
Replacing worn gaskets and sealing in watertight electrical equipment.
Maintaining and repairing gasoline engine systems, air conditioner electrical systems and portable heater fuel/electrical systems.
Army MOS 52D Power-Generation Equipment Repairer: The Power-Generation Equipment Repairer is responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and overhaul of Power-Generation equipment, internal combustion engines and associated equipment. Some of your duties as a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer may include:
Performing maintenance on tactical utility, precise Power-Generation sets, internal combustion engines and associated equipment.
Maintaining and repairing motors, generators, switchboards, and control equipment.
Maintaining and repairing power and lighting circuits, electrical fixtures, and other electrical equipment.
Detecting and locating grounds, open circuits, and short circuits in power distribution cables.
Connecting emergency power to the main control board from an emergency switchboard.
Operating standard electrical and electronic test equipment.
Reading technical guides and diagrams to locate damaged parts of generators and control equipment.
