AECOM is actively seeking a Submarine Technician to provide engineering Support to Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF). The position will be located at Naval Submarine Base, Groton, CT.
Research technical documentation and develop test plans for use in troubleshooting, fault localization and failure analysis
Perform pre-installation testing of Photonics Mast diploops and RF injected sweeps of Photonics Masts and periscopes.
Repair and replace various periscope and communications RF and video cables and connectors.
Test, remove, replace, reinstall, re-test radomes and remove and replace RAM.
Perform performance testing and fault localization of fiber optic signal paths using a Light Source, Power Meter and Optical Time Domain Reflectometer.
Repair and replace connectors returning failed connectors to acceptable light loss performance
Plan, supervise, and execute the maintenance and repair of fiber optic circuits, periscope diploops, and associated periscope components such as slip rings, rotary joints, J-boxes and post amps.
Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least seven (7) years of job-related experience or equivalent.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years full-time engineering experience onboard submarines in the operation, maintenance, installation, test or repair of submarine combat systems and/or weapons handling equipment. Experience in evaluating the material conditions of ship systems and implementing correct actions.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years full-time technical experience in the design, installation, test, and/or repair of mechanical/electrical/electronic or mechanical systems/equipment.
Position requires a Secret Security Clearance.
Position may require travel.
