Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Engineer for employment in the Chelmsford, MA office. Support the Chelmsford Design Center on local, regional and global projects.

  • Support the Geotechnical Dept. with planning, implementing, and managing geotechnical projects.

  • Coordinate field exploration programs including sample collection, data analyses and review geotechnical samples for laboratory testing.

  • Lead and oversee geotechnical analyses including material characterization, slope stability, seepage, settlement, shallow and deep foundations and retaining walls.

  • Develop geotechnical design criteria and overall design approach.

  • Develop geotechnical technical specifications, plans, elevations, section and details.

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.

  • Prepare geotechnical engineering related calculations.

  • Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices.

  • Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.

  • Delegate, oversee and review work prepared by other geotechnical engineers within the department.

  • Perform condition assessments, site visits, and construction inspections as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • 4 - 10 years of experience as a Geotechnical Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer

  • Ability to work with a diverse team

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture

  • Experienced, self-directed professional

  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

  • Ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations.

  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines.

  • Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering

  • Experience with AutoCAD

  • Experience in the Water/Wastewater Industry
