Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Engineer for employment in the Chelmsford, MA office. Support the Chelmsford Design Center on local, regional and global projects.
Support the Geotechnical Dept. with planning, implementing, and managing geotechnical projects.
Coordinate field exploration programs including sample collection, data analyses and review geotechnical samples for laboratory testing.
Lead and oversee geotechnical analyses including material characterization, slope stability, seepage, settlement, shallow and deep foundations and retaining walls.
Develop geotechnical design criteria and overall design approach.
Develop geotechnical technical specifications, plans, elevations, section and details.
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
Prepare geotechnical engineering related calculations.
Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices.
Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
Delegate, oversee and review work prepared by other geotechnical engineers within the department.
Perform condition assessments, site visits, and construction inspections as needed.
Minimum Requirements
4 - 10 years of experience as a Geotechnical Engineer
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
Registration as a Professional Engineer
Ability to work with a diverse team
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture
Experienced, self-directed professional
Must be a highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work.
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations.
Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines.
Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering
Experience with AutoCAD
Experience in the Water/Wastewater Industry
