Perform a variety of engineering assignments in support of the Lead Naval Technical Laboratory at NSWC, Dahlgren. Work includes management of laboratory for high energy systems. Maintaining logs; and organize storage of equipment and tools. Calibrate laser equipment and perform light maintenance as needed, keeping equipment clean and functioning properly. Support Laboratory personnel in the preparation of equipment and tools for laser hazard evaluations. As needed, support the Laboratory personnel in the conduct of laser safety classes including preparation and setup of class materials, tracking of courseware records and students, and providing instruction using prepared instructor guides
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 7 years of job-related experience or equivalent. Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. The position may require the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in laser hardware and software. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Must be a US Citizen to be considered.
Laser Safety Officer certification preferred; but not necessary. Working experience in laboratory maintenance, systems engineering, and testing
