AECOM is seeking a Aircraft Mechanic 1 (Blades) at the Corpus Christi Army Depot.

Accessories and Rotor Blade Production - Performs disassembly and assembly. Disassembles using standard issue tooling, aircraft engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, fuel controls and rotor blades. Reassembles using standard and special tooling on aircraft engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components and fuel controls to a serviceable state of condition. Checks technical publications to assure they include up-to-date changes.

Certifies completion of requirements on work documents records and required measurements data and completes required entries on historical documents in preparation to sell to quality inspectors.

Required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses and may be required to wear respirators, aprons, goggles or other protective clothing and other personal protective equipment.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Procedure Compliance - Each employee must read, understand and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.

  • Five (5) years actual and recent, aircraft systems experience desired; three (3) years required.

  • Must be able to find and interpret appropriate disassembly/assembly procedures in pertinent technical manuals, blueprints, manufacturers specifications or similar sources.

  • Requires skill in use of a number of jigs, fixtures, stands, mechanics' hand tools, manufacturers special tools and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers and potentiometers.

  • Ability to properly use torque wrenches and torque multiplying (Power Dyne) equipment when removing nuts and bolts.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of materials used in the construction of aircraft rotor blades including identification and correct application of woven fabrics, core materials, and adhesive resins.

  • Must be able to accurately measure tolerances within 1/10,000 (0.0001) Inch.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of rotor blade static balance techniques and principals.

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of repair techniques used on aircraft rotor blades.

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the correct application and use of common hand tools, specialized shop equipment, automated diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring equipment utilized in testing, inspection, and repair of aircraft rotor blades.

Additional requirements:

  1. Must meet requirements for enrollment in respiratory protection and be able to perform work for extended periods while wearing respirator.

  2. Must be able to work with hazardous particulates, solvents, adhesives, and sealants using correct personal protective equipment.

  3. Must be able to perform routine administrative tasks using Windows-based desktop computer.

  4. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.

  5. Must have knowledge of the scope and limitation of various categories of maintenance and their application to the contract unit.

  6. Must know theory and principles of engine operations; accessories and components; electrical and electronic; pneudraulic; and mechanical principles.

  7. Knowledge of sheet metal, properties of materials, fuels, and oils.

  8. Must be able to read, interpret and use manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring and schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components.

  9. Must be able to inspect, repair, and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.

  10. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

  11. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

  12. Must be able to speak, read and write English.

  13. Must be able to pass Rapid Gate if required.
