Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Civil engineer Intern for employment in the Tampa, FL office. AECOM is searching for candidates that has the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments related to planning, design and construction phase services on multi-discipline projects, allowing development of professional work knowledge and abilities, and requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out tasks

  • Work under the supervision of project managers and senior civil designers and other senior-level team members

  • Assist in civil engineering evaluations, reports, analyses and designs for existing and new facilities and other related opportunities

  • Assist with preparing project drawings and exhibits using AutoCAD and Civil3D

  • Interact with the full project team including multiple technical disciplines and supporting professionals

  • Intern 1 – completion of first year of qualified study

  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study

Minimum Requirements

Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Civil Engineering or other related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals

  • Familiarity with civil drafting software including AutoCAD

  • Proficiency using spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software

  • Good communication skills for team-based working

  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment

  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, a critical thinker, and willing to take on new opportunities
