AECOM has an immediate need for an Environmental Field Technician I to work in Seattle, Washington. This is a field position that requires working outside, in inclement weather at times, walking in rugged terrain and at times lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. The candidate will provide industrial hygiene and environmental field work in support of the Environmental Compliance group servicing clients primarily in Seattle, Washington. These services include:

The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Performs routine fieldwork as a trainee (such as environmental sampling, assisting with calculations, and operations, maintenance and inspection of equipment of client site), working under close supervision.

  • Performs routine tasks in support of project staff and handles less complex duties.

  • Gather and maintain specified records of scientific data for supervisor, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.

  • Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.

  • Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories under supervision

  • Working outdoors in a field setting

  • Conducting air, bulk, and wipe sampling (e.g., asbestos, lead, silica),

  • Assessing buildings for regulated building materials (e.g., asbestos, lead, PCBs), noise exposure monitoring, mapping, and abatement project monitoring.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma required

  • 2+ years of relevant experience required

  • This is a field position and requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs of equipment and to walk long distances in rugged terrain possibly in inclement weather

  • Familiarity with Health and Safety procedures

  • Experience using Word and Excel

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Studies or related field

  • 40 hour OSHA certification is preferred

  • Experience in EHS desirable
