Job Summary

Shimmick Construction, an AECOM CO., is seeking an Estimator for its Foundations group in Irvine, CA.

Brief Job Description:

  • Responsible for all aspects of estimating process for foundations group

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs

  • Conduct thorough review of drawings and specifications

  • Perform detailed project cost estimate using estimating software such as Hard Dollar

  • Be able to produce general project schedules for the purposes of estimating

  • Solicit subcontractors and vendors and ensure scope coverage prior to bid day

  • Analyze and select subcontractors and vendors

  • Participate in discussion regarding constructability and means and methods

  • Ability/Experience leading bid-build estimates up to or in excess of 25 million

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Foundation/Drilling/Shoring experience

Preferred Qualifications

Estimating Software:

  • We utilize Hard Dollar and experience with it is ideal, preferred to have experience in either Hard Dollar or HCSS, but experience in any estimating software is acceptable

Other Software:

  • Mastery of Excel is requirement

  • Experience in Bluebeam or other on screen take-off type program

  • Experience in P6 is a plus, but not required


  • If you have a combination of field and estimating experience this is a plus

  • If you have experience in bidding on design-build projects this is a plus
