AECOM has an exciting opportunity as a
Environmental Coordinator in Afghanistan on the Eagle Contract. Supports the HS&E program in the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of company Health, Safety & Environmental programs, ensuring work centers are in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulation requirements. Ensures environmental compliance issues and provide assistance with workplace safety matters. Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries. Performs and/or oversee environmental monitoring for emergencies spills, unauthorized discharges, and other environmental problems. Responsible for delivering environmental training. Supports operations that include, but not limited to accumulation and disposal of solid and hazardous waste, storage and shelf-life management of SDS materials. Performs site assessments to identify and correct potential environmental, health and safety hazards and making on-site correction for potential risks in areas that are directly related to Hazardous Waste, Materials Chemicals, and environmental concerns and conditions. Enforces the SDS Program and conduct an annual internal environmental compliance assessment. Responsible for maintaining records of environmental activities for open inspection by the Government such as inventory list, inspection logs, analytical results, monitoring data, etc. Maintains adequate inventories of spill kits, absorbent materials, containers and other supplies as necessary to ensure the proper containment, packaging, labeling, handling, storage and transportation of hazardous materials and waste. Serves as liaison for the company to the hoist installation in support of environmental control. Ensures strict compliance to safety practices and support the AC FIRST Safety Policies and Procedures. Enforces the day to day safety task at the work sites to ensure proper wearing of PPE. Conduct environmental inspections and daily observations of assigned accumulation points. Ensures all significant near misses and events are investigated and root causes identified. Periodically travel to FOBs may be required for temporary period of time. Adheres to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the AC FIRST Quality Management System. Maintains the environmental management system to comply with ISO 14001 standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
NACI / Tier 1 for US Citizens and PCC for Non US Citizens.
Valid Driver’s license required.
24 Hour HAZW OPER training and certification; 8 hour yearly refresher, is required.
30 Hour (or equivalent) OSHA certification in General Industry or Construction, is required. d) ISO 14001:2015 training required or obtained within 90 days after arrival in country.
High School diploma or equivalent required. b) Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2-3 years’ experience in Safety / Environmental field required.
Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.
Must be knowledgeable of EPA rules and regulations and fire prevention methods. b) Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Must have the ability to develop and deliver HS&E training material for various personnel.
Must have a demonstrated ability to function and coordinate well in a multinational workforce environment. e) Must have effective organization and planning skills.
Must have the ability to understand and follow instruction precisely.
Must have the ability to use test equipment, such as gas analyzers and dosimeters. h) Valid driver’s license, is required.
