Our Environment & Ground Engineering Contracting team in St Albans and other locations are recruiting Project Planners to assist with the commercial project management of sub-contracts for large scale ground investigation, remediation and ecological works packages. The successful candidate(s) will join at an exciting time as our contracting capability rapidly grows and offers the opportunity to work on a variety of major engineering and infrastructure projects.
The role involves preparation of project programmes together with robust delivery schedules with Critical Path and with clear Milestones at appropriate levels in line with client requirements. Developing fully resourced programmes for a range of projects that are maintained on a monthly basis, with appropriate Control of Change both anticipated and actual within the programme. You will be expected to liaise with key personnel to obtain and share information relevant to the planning and co-ordination of works.
Programme and Project Scheduling - Able to undertake planning of major construction projects both in a Client environment and working alongside AECOM Project Managers to include all aspects of the service including defining Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), development of activity durations and logic, application of PERT techniques and network diagrams. Interrogate and integrate programmes from multiple suppliers to create a master programme.
Training, software, system set-up and implementation support - Increasing the maturity of AECOM’s approach to Schedule Management by helping augment training programmes, advice on software platforms, and building and operating the schedule management service.
Leadership skills – Able to facilitate and lead on the development of schedules with Stakeholders at all levels. Able to work in a collaborative, fast pace environment
Software Skills – Able to use leading industry standard software and tools such as Primavera P6, ASTA Power Project, Microsoft Project and interfacing the aforementioned with Microsoft Excel.
Business Development – Internal networking to develop new business and bid support to respond to external Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
Analyse Programmes - Review and analyse the contractor’s schedules submitted for acceptance and provide the required recommendation to the project team.
Develops fundamental knowledge of planning and scheduling concepts and principles including effects on financial performance.
Develops familiarity with data sources for schedule development.
Ability to identify and investigate project schedule variance.
Collects data and updates and produces scheduling reports.
Assists in the development and maintenance of work breakdown structures (WBS).
Develops familiarity with construction drawings, specifications and construction contracting.
Possesses a fundamental understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling. Able to review and understand engineering, procurement and construction schedule logic
Assists in assembling data for schedule updating.
Assists in the measurement of project schedule progress
Develops knowledge of scope control, change management and earned value methodology.
Supports data gathering and produces an initial analysis for schedule baseline development and maintenance data gathering.
Exposure to basic scheduling and cost baseline fundamentals, concepts and principles.
Graduate level qualifications in a relevant Construction (Ground Investigation) / Engineering discipline.
Knowledge of how (and when) to deliver high quality programmes that will withstand close scrutiny. Someone who can hold their own, who knows when to respectfully challenge during the building of the programme and it update, knowing their business. The ability to work efficiently and swiftly in the development of programmes.
Awareness of Collaboration techniques to improve the quality and delivery time of the programme development.
Good working knowledge of NEC3 contracts or similar.
Significant experience with Primavera software (P6) and MS Excel with knowledge of MS Project and ASTA.
Specific industry and project experience – Ground Investigation Engineering, Bridging, Highways England, Tram (Light Rail), Rail, Nuclear, Water, Highways or similar transferable.
Able to work in St.Albans or alternate AECOM / Client office.
